Episode 3: Player Analysis

Episode 3 gave us a jam-packed episode featuring a tribe swap, betrayals, twists, and of course, an epic blindside. Fortunately the tribes will remain in tact for episode 4, allowing for at least some more educated guessing on FSG. However, the Ghost Island twist, as well as the three advantages and idols currently in the game, will potentially lead to some more surprises. This player analysis may provide a little insight on possible outcomes in the next episode. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

NEW MALOLO TRIBE

BRADLEY (points earned: 3. Total points earned: 8)
Bradley finally had more screen time this episode, and it was largely negative. He was shown complaining about being dirty, whining about the Malolo camp, and possibly most damning of all, boasting about taking out the Malolo members one by one. Boasting on Survivor is usually followed by swift punishment. That is not to say Bradley will be voted out soon, but he’s definitely not getting a winner’s edit.

BRENDAN (points earned: 3. Total points earned: 4)
Despite finding himself in the minority on his new tribe, Brandon rallied his troops to look for the idol. Though Michael ended up finding the idol and scoring the point on FSG, Brendan should benefit from it as well if it allows him to stay in the game longer.

CHELSEA (points earned: 3. Total points earned: 8)
Chelsea continues to be completely invisible. In fact, she hasn’t received a single confession in three episodes. Hopefully we will see more of her soon because it looks as if she will not factor into any major story arcs in the near future. She may end up sticking around for awhile though, just based on lack of a story.

DESIREE (points earned: 3. Total points earned: 8)
We didn’t get much from Desiree this week either, but she was at least visible in the prior episodes. She also didn’t get a chance to really shine in the challenge, but she will most likely have that opportunity soon, especially in more physical challenges.

JENNA (points earned: 3. Total points earned: 4)
Jenna stayed loyal to her Malolo alliance and also to her closest ally, Stephanie. Although she’s in a minority alliance, she should be safe if her alliance can use the idol correctly should they go to tribal next week.

KELLYN (points earned: 3. Total points earned: 8)
Kellyn killed it in the puzzle challenge, which helped her tribe gain more points. She will be one to watch when it comes to individual puzzle challenges after the merge. However, we did a bad move from her this week when she blatantly told Jenna and Stephanie that there’s no chance a Naviti is flipping. All that did was galvanize the Malolos into searching for the idol. Kellyn does have social intelligence, but that moment showed us that she has some flaws as well.

MICHAEL (points earned: 4. Total points earned: 5)
FSG players who drafted Michael should be happy he has an idol in possession. However, if the idol is played next week, which is a definite possibility, he will only score one more point from it. That said, Michael is still doing well in the game within his core alliance, so as long as he plays his idol correctly next week, he should be around for awhile.

SEBASTIAN (points earned: 3. Total points earned: 8)
Sebastian is getting a goofy edit, but he isn’t pissing anyone off, and he’s providing for his tribe. Should the Malolo four on his tribe target one of the Navitis next week, he will not likely be the target because he isn’t considered a strategic threat.

STEPHANIE J (points earned: 3. Total points earned: 4)
Stephanie once again proved her strategic chops this week when she dissented from the Ghost Island vote so that a Malolo on the other tribe didn’t get sent to Ghost Island. She also kept her cool despite finding herself in the minority after the swap. Although she hasn’t received a lot of points yet, she is one to watch.

NEW NAVITI TRIBE

ANGELA (points earned: 0. Total points earned: 5)
Angela was very close to being sent home this week for reasons out of her control. However, her association with Chris will most likely cost her. She was also kept out of either alliance’s voting plan, so that doesn’t speak well to her strategic and social chops. She could definitely be in trouble again this week.

CHRIS (points earned: 1. Total points earned: 6)
Christ dodged a bullet when he drew the rock that sent him to Ghost Island. If his tribe goes to tribal council again next week, he will again find himself in the crosshairs. His only hope may be to team up with Domenick, Wendell, and Angela, but that’s not likely to happen due to bad blood with Domenick.

DOMENICK (points earned: 2. Total points earned: 8)
Every episode, Domenick gives us both good and bad moments. The good is that we know he will receive Morgan’s Legacy Advantage next week, so now he will now receive 2 points for every episode he has both an idol and an advantage in his possession. The bad is that James and the other Malolos on his tribe suspect Domenick has an idol and will possibly target him should they visit tribal council again. Domenick knows he’s in trouble because his ally Morgan was blindsided, so he will have to either patch things up with Chris and Angela, find a way to convince the Malolos to keep him around, or play his idol.

DONATHAN (points earned: 0. Total points earned: 2)
Donathan didn’t get as much screen time this episode, but things are still looking good for him. He goes with the flow and doesn’t make any waves, so he will not likely be a target anytime soon. Because he survived the premiere, when he was most vulnerable, there’s no reason for him to voted out now.

JAMES (points earned: 0. Total points earned: 1)
James demonstrated some strategic chops this episode by engineering Morgan’s blindside. It remains to be seen whether his plans to keep control of his Malolo alliance will hold true next week, especially now that their tribe will have four Navitis and four Malolos. He’s not out of the reeds yet, but he’s starting to show promise.

LAUREL (points earned: 0. Total points earned: 1)
Laurel was relatively quiet this episode. So far, she’s been playing it safe and sticking with her original alliance, which is paying off. However, like the other Malolos on her tribe, she hasn’t received many points yet due to all their challenge losses.

LIBBY (points earned: 0. Total points earned: 1)
We FINALLY saw more of Libby this week, and it was mostly positive. However, why would she agree to blindside Morgan, her closest ally in the game? Despite this blunder, for some reason, the editing seemed to want to give more credit to Libby for the move than James. Does that mean Libby will be around a lot longer than James?

MORGAN (points earned: 2. Total points earned: 8)
Morgan was one of the popular Sole Survivor picks this season, and it was shocking to see her get blindsided. It’s difficult to even pinpoint what she did wrong besides trusting Libby to have her back. Although it’s sad to see her go, FSG players who drafted her at least received 8 points from her in three episodes, which isn’t bad. She will also receive a handicap point for the rest of the episodes this season.

WENDELL (points earned: 0. Total points earned: 5)
Wendell continues to impress with his under-the-radar strategy; however, his alliance took a hit this week with Morgan’s blindside. That said, it’s not hopeless yet. If Wendell and Domenick put their heads together, they will probably come up with a plan to save themselves, either with the idol or some other hairbrained scheme. Don’t count out Wendell yet.
