Episode 3: Best Move/Worst Move

Every Thursday on FSG Blog, we will be posting at least three “Best Moves” and three “Worst Moves” from the latest episode. It’s up to YOU to vote for what you consider to be the best and the worst move. If you disagree with the three options for best or worst moves, then select “Other” and then write an explanation in the Comments section below of the move that you consider to be the best or the worst. The poll will close Mondays at Noon PST and results posted soon after!

Michael finding an idol

Although all four original Malolo members on the Malolo beach went looking for the idol, Michael is the one who found one of James Clement’s idols from Survivor: China, so he deserves the credit. The outnumbered Malolo alliance desperately needed an advantage, and this idol could save them if they go to tribal next week.

James organizing a blindside against Morgan

Either way, an original Naviti was going to be voted out tonight. Chris was the first target, and after he was sent to Ghost Island, the target shifted to Angela. But for most of the Malolos on the Naviti beach, getting rid of Morgan was an even better option because she was a smarter player than either Angela or Chris. Also, the rivalry between Chris and Domenick will likely continue, opening up another opportunity for the Malolos. From the edit, it seems that James was the mastermind behind this big move.

Stephanie dissenting from the Ghost Island vote

This is a small move, but small moves are often underrated on Survivor. After winning the immunity challenge, Stephanie’s tribe, consisting of a majority of original Navitis, were going to send a Malolo on the other tribe to Ghost Island. The vote had to be unanimous, so Stephanie dissented, forcing the losing tribe to draw rocks. Although Chris, a Naviti, probably would have been voted out if he wasn’t sent to Ghost Island, Stephanie had no way of knowing that for sure, so she did what was best in the moment for her Malolo allies.

Libby blindsiding Morgan

Although voting out Morgan was the best option for James, Laurel, and Donathan, it wasn’t so good for Libby. Libby and Morgan had bonded previously, and Libby could have used their alliance to her benefit later in the game. To be fair, she tried to protest the move, but ultimately gave in to peer pressure and ended up losing a strong ally. Had she pushed more for voting out Angela or even Domenick, then she would have been in a much better position.

Chris bossing around Angela

Chris and Angela had an alliance, but he was so bossy and condescending to her that she became disillusioned with their alliance and refused to target Dom. Chris’ handling of Angela demonstrates his lack of social awareness.

Domenick showing his fake idol to Malolo

For the second time in a row, Domenick can’t seem to keep his mouth shut about his idol. Sure, he didn’t tell the Malolo members about his real idol, but telling them he made a fake idol to trick Chris only served to sow distrust between him and Malolo, leading James to suspect that Dom has the real idol (which is true).
