Draft Assessment: Donathan

A self-proclaimed “gay hillbilly nerd” and also a Survivor superfan, Donathan compares himself to both Survivor: China winner Todd Herzog and Survivor: Tocantins winner JT Thomas. He also says he idolizes social mastermind Cirie Fields (who doesn’t?), who made it to the final six or above in three of her four seasons. Could Donathan live up to this high bar he’s set for himself? Possibly. He does seem to be easygoing, which will help him make important social connections, and claims that he has experience in the outdoors, which will help him acclimate to the physical demands of the game. However, he displayed a bit of sassiness in his bio, admitting that one of his pet peeves is when people misspell his name or say “literally” when they mean figuratively.

Bottom line: If Donathan keeps his sassiness contained to his confessionals, he could coast under the radar for much of the game and also be an entertaining player to watch. It remains to be seen whether he has the strategic chops to make it to the end, but picking him as a Sole Survivor might be a smart choice. However, drafting him might not pay off as much, since he is not likely to win a bunch of challenges.
